Stage layout
My first idea was to split the stage into two, to have half of the stage as the island and half as the ship, but because most of the scenes are on the island I have though of another idea to have the whole stage as the island instead. The first scene when there is a tsunami we could have the lights down and flashing lights to shown a storm. We could have a soundscape of wind and the seas crashing. While everyone is moving side to side to show the ship is rocking we could make a wheel for the captain to steer the ship which he/she will hold in the first scene. After that scene the lights could go up and we have a soundscape of birds, when the lights go up you can see clearly that the stage is an island. Every time a scene involves the ship we can have the lights go down and a spotlight on the actors to show there is a change in scene. For example when Daphne and Mau have tea we can have a spotlight on them and a table and chairs.
